The Lemonade Circle is thrilled to extend a heartfelt thank you to UT Health San Antonio's Department of Pediatrics for sponsoring and hosting our Second Annual STEM Leadership Summit on Saturday, May 18th. This incredible event was a shining example of what can happen when communities come together to empower and inspire the next generation of leaders.
We are especially grateful to Dr. Krystal Robinson, Dr. Steven Seidner, and the countless other volunteers, students, and staff who poured their hearts into organizing this phenomenal, engaging, and truly one-of-a-kind experience for our Lemonade Circle members. Your dedication and passion were evident in every aspect of the event, and the impact it had on our girls was nothing short of inspiring.
The feedback we received from the event has been overwhelmingly positive. According to our post-event survey, over 82% of our members were inspired by the summit to consider a career in the medical field. It was exciting and heartwarming to see over 40 young women—98% of whom are African American—eagerly participating in a sponsored STEM conference on a Saturday morning.
During the summit, our Lemonade Circle girls had the incredible opportunity to engage in hands-on experiences that brought science to life. From practicing suturing and conducting ultrasounds on themselves to mending bones in orthopedic medicine and learning about the importance of vital organs like the liver, spine, and heart, these experiences not only expanded their access to valuable resources but also empowered them to see the power of education.
These are the types of learning opportunities that the Lemonade Circle strives to provide to our members—opportunities that encourage them to reach beyond the stars and understand that when life gives you lemons, there's always someone ready to help you #makeLEMONADE.
We also want to extend a special thank you to our STEM Director, Ellen Cook, for making the special trip down to San Antonio to celebrate and #makeLEMONADE with us. Your commitment to our mission and our girls is truly appreciated.
The Lemonade Circle is always looking to partner with amazing organizations like UT Health San Antonio to inspire our members and open their eyes to exciting career opportunities. If your company or organization is interested in partnering with us, we invite you to reach out to our founder and CEO, Brandi Coleman. Together, we can continue to empower these bright young women to achieve their dreams. Thank you once again to everyone who made this event a success. Let's continue to inspire, empower, and uplift the next generation of leaders!
