Brandi Coleman, the founder of The Lemonade Circle (TLC), was honored with the Community Impact Award at the prestigious 2024 Friends of Sam Houston Scholarship Breakfast. For Brandi, this recognition was more than just an accolade—it symbolized a profound full-circle moment in her journey.
Brandi's roots run deep in the vibrant Eastside of San Antonio, where she attended SAISD schools and cultivated a profound connection to her community. The award ceremony felt like a poetic return to where her journey began—a journey filled with resilience, determination, and unwavering support.
Sharing the stage that morning was Claire Davis, one of Brandi's earliest mentees from TLC, who proudly received two scholarships at the same event. Seeing Claire's success brought tears of pride to Brandi's eyes. Claire's achievements epitomized the transformative impact of TLC, demonstrating the power of empowerment and mentorship.
In a beautiful twist, one of the scholarships Claire received was named after Dr. Donald McClure, Brandi's elementary principal and a cherished role model. Dr. McClure's legacy of empowerment continues to inspire generations, instilling in them the belief that they can achieve greatness.
Among the attendees were eight current Lemonade Circle members, who woke up early on a Saturday to stand by Brandi's side. Their presence symbolized the tight-knit bond and solidarity within TLC—a community where every member is valued and uplifted.
Brandi extends heartfelt thanks to Ms. Willie Mae Taylor for organizing the event and Ms. Francine Prosser-Johnson for her unwavering support. She also acknowledges the SAISD Foundation for nurturing student success and the countless teachers, leaders, and community members who have shaped her journey.
But above all, Brandi recognizes the power of her village—those who pray, cheer, and champion the continued success of TLC and its members. Together, they embody the spirit of resilience, determination, and empowerment that defines The Lemonade Circle.
